"Seth Duerr gives us an Iago of pure misanthropy...an Iago we can love to hate."

"Kevin Kaine captures the complexity of a man too often portrayed as simple."

Odyssey Theatre Ensemble was formed in February of 2002 by a group of directors, performers, and designers with the desire to produce meaningful theatre through a working collaboration of artists. From actor to administrator, every member of OTE has the capability to develop as creators and bring their unique stories to life. As a company, we believe that the process is just as important as the product—the community as essential as the individual.

Our objective is to create innovative theatrical experiences to share with our audience, and tell stories which explore the timeless needs and struggles of the human experience. By integrating the evolution of North American as well as world cultures, we strive to explore classical, contemporary, and new works using a broad array of theatrical styles. In employing a diverse background of these performance styles and methodologies, we seek to revitalize the invaluable voice of the theatre community through our productions and educational outreach programs.

Due to the fact that we are a company run largely by women, we also endeavor to promote the continued advancement of women in theatre—as actors, musicians, playwrights, designers, writers and directors. We are women interested in work that has impact, relevance, and inspires us toward change.

The company's first production, Antony & Cleopatra, debuted at the Brooklyn Lyceum in October of 2002. Their new works development program, New Journeys, kicked off with the world premier of Losing Ground in summer of 2003, and a workshop of Sharkey's Night in September 2003. OTE was invited to partipate in Feed the Herd's Stampede Festival in February of 2004, for which they produced the world premieres of Dancing Through Neverland and SUBconscious, along with a reading of Manuel Puig's Kiss of the Spider Woman. They were invited to participate in Jean Cocteau Repertory's Off Off Bowery Festival in July 2005, for which they are producing Othello, by William Shakespeare.

Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
